The challenge
One of the largest cities in California needed a renewable and reliable power source for their government buildings and services to ensure they could both continue to serve the city at all times, despite unexpected grid disruptions, and meet their aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2035.
The solution
Working together with city officials we are installing microgrids on municipal buildings to help create their own, more reliable, power grid. The eight installations at police, fire and park facilities run on solar energy, which is stored on-site through a battery system, and can operate with or without a connection to the grid. The solution ensures emergency and public services can continue running, even if the city鈥檚 power grid experiences disruption.
