The challenge鈥�
HSV needed an energy supplier who could help them source renewable power and put in place an EV charging infrastructure to help tackle the diverse challenges of decarbonising their stadium, the Volksparkstadion, including match day operations.
The solution鈥�
Shell Energy is supporting the stadium鈥檚 decarbonisation efforts by supplying HSV with renewable electricity generated from wind turbines and solar panels in Germany, certified by Guarantees of Origin. This enables the club to continue its decarbonisation journey with a solution based on domestic renewable production. On-site photovoltaic solar projects and battery storage options are also being explored as possible future opportunities.鈥�
As part of a wider collaboration between HSV and Shell Germany, Shell Recharge began expanding EV charging infrastructure around the football stadium in the summer of 2024. A multi-year service plan for HSV鈥檚 fleet, including the use of low-carbon fuels for ground keeping machinery, is also being explored.鈥�
