Carbon neutral indicates that Shell has engaged in a transaction where an amount of CO₂ equivalent to the CO₂e amount associated with the raw material extraction, transport, production, distribution and usage of the Shell GTL fuel has been avoided as emissions through the protection of natural ecosystems or removed from the atmosphere through a nature-based process.

Derived from natural gas, Shell GTL Fuel is an alternative diesel that burns more cleanly than conventional crude oil-based diesel, resulting in a reduction of local emissions and improved air quality in the areas our customers operate. Shell GTL Fuel has been classified as non-toxic, odourless, readily biodegradable and has a low hazard rating, being a paraffinic fuel.
