Employee Resource Groups At Shell

"I’m really grateful to my brilliant colleagues in Employee Resource Groups who have played an invaluable role in raising awareness and providing honest feedback on what works and what doesn’t. Their voices continue to shape our DE&I strategy". Ben van Beurden, Former Shell CEO

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

124 ERGs

Across 34 countries / regions

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are crucial in helping Shell reach our ambition: to become one of the most diverse and inclusive organisations in the world, a place where everyone feels valued, respected and has a strong sense of belonging. They operate on the principles of inclusion, open dialogue, and constructive contribution to help ensure that the different voices and experiences of our people continue to shape our company. They are a place to collaborate, support each other, celebrate successes and work with others to drive Shell’s overall DE&I strategy.

We currently have 126 ERGs across more than 30 countries and regions. Our ERGs cover a variety of groups, including: GenderRace and ethnicity, LBGT+ and Disability Inclusion and enABLEment, experience levels (e.g new graduates and experienced hires), parents, and military service.

In addition to our country-based ERGs, we have a Global Focus Area groups for each of our four global equity focus areas – enGAGE (Shell Global Allies for Gender Equity), Global LGBT+ Forum, Employee Advisory Board to the Council for Race, and the Global enABLEment Coalition. Our Global Focus Area Groups are each sponsored by members of Shell’s Executive Committee, which includes our CEO and the directors that report into him. They regularly meet with the most senior executives in Shell to ensure experiences, challenges and opportunities are visible, talked about and acted on. This helps us to continuously learn and refocus our efforts to ensure everyone feels valued, respected and included.
