Shell Sulphur Solutions donates $150,000 to the University of Calgary
Shell Sulphur Solutions, is supporting research into sulphur related technology by donating $150,000 to establish and maintain a Chair of Industrial Sulphur Chemistry at the University of Calgary.
Shell Sulphur Solutions鈥檚 donation will contribute to a fund supporting the work of Alberta Sulphur Research Limited (ASRL) a not-for-profit organization, within the Department of Chemistry. ASRL鈥檚 work, which is privately funded, is oriented towards increasing energy efficiency in industrial operations from which member companies benefit significantly.
Shell was a founder member of ASRL and, in the last 30 years ASRL has conducted many successful contracts, outside of its core research, on behalf of Shell.
An endowed chair will build and strengthen important links between academia, industry and research for the benefit of all concerned. It will also provide a mechanism for continued academic input into ASRL, enhancing ASRL鈥檚 academic profile and allowing them to apply for government sponsored research grants for which they are not currently eligible.
Shell Sulphur Solutions is proud of its association with the University of Calgary and is delighted to be able to sponsor its continued work in sulphur related research through its support.
