Shell Thiopave takes major step forward in India

Two year accreditation awarded for trial purposes.

Following the impressive results achieved at a 500-metre trial in New Delhi in July 2009, Shell Thiopave has been awarded a two-year accreditation for trial purposes by the Indian Road Congress (IRC).

The New Delhi trial certainly was a test of the mettle of Shell Thiopave team. Paving during monsoon season can lead to loss of adhesion or early failure if asphalt gets wet, and can also give problems with temperature control. Despite these challenges, Shell Thiopave鈥檚 performance and handling impressed the road authorities, and industrial hygiene data from the trial, verified by the National Environmental Emissions Research for India, confirmed that Shell Thiopave emissions were significantly below worker exposure limits.

This combination of performance and worker safety was crucial in the accreditation being granted and a second project has already been agreed in Northern India in early 2010.
