Shell Thiogro Technology will enable H Sulphur to produce a highly concentrated sulphur enhanced fertiliser for use on a variety of crops across the globe. The product uses Shell Thiogro鈥檚 Urea-ES technology, a patented process to suspend micronised elemental sulphur in a matrix of urea. The technology will be installed at H Sulphur鈥檚 facility in Ulsan, South Korea, and will be produced on the Sandvik Rotoformer System.

鈥淭his new high sulphur (75% S) fertiliser will allow H Sulphur to diversify its product portfolio by offering a sulphur source that is available throughout the crop cycle. As a manufacturer with over 38 years of experience in a diverse range of sulphur based products, we know from our experience that this new product will make a significant impact in the sulphur-enhanced fertiliser industry over a relatively short period of time,鈥 said Yoo YoonChul, Chairman H Sulphur Corp. 鈥淲ith the launch of this new product, H Sulphur Corp is now ready to face the challenges of the future.鈥

鈥淲e were deeply impressed by Shell鈥檚 corporate philosophy of Safety First and emphasis on teamwork. We learned a lot from Shell鈥檚 global team who listened to our concerns and took a collaborative approach to finding solutions,鈥 said Sean Yoo, CEO of H Sulphur Corp.

As a global leader in innovation, Shell is committed to offering more and cleaner energy solutions to our ever-growing population. 鈥淚n the coming years the world will be faced with challenges in Energy, Food and Water. Shell is actively providing solutions to address these challenges鈥 said Jason Wong, Vice President of Global Shell Bitumen and Sulphur. 鈥淓nabled by Shell Thiogro, H Sulphur will produce a high Sulphur Urea-ES fertiliser which will help resolve global food challenges through increased crop yields, improving the lives and profitability of agricultural communities around the world. Through strong collaboration, H Sulphur and Shell can sustainably respond to the demands of a dynamic and fast changing world.鈥

The technology is expected to be commissioned in late 2018.

Shell Thiogro technologies

Shell Thiogro technologies help to enable fertiliser producers to safely incorporate micron-sized particles of elemental sulphur into the world鈥檚 most widely-used fertilisers, including MAP, DAP, TSP and urea. The fine elemental sulphur particle size promotes the oxidation of the sulphur within the crop season. Shell Thiogro technologies have been licensed and installed in fertiliser plants in Asia, North America and Australia. Shell Thiogro is part of Shell Sulphur Solutions, Shell鈥檚 dedicated business for managing the complete sulphur value chain.
