Dearomatized hydrocarbon solvents
The Shell Chemicals portfolio of dearomatized hydrocarbon solvents contains an extremely wide range of solvents, having flash points in the range of 60°C up to 100°C. These products are mixtures of normal-, iso- and cyclo-paraffins.
Just like the faster evaporating special boiling point hydrocarbons, aliphatic mineral spirits are fractionated from selected feedstock. Their low aromatics content is obtained by deep hydrogenation.
The number after the D-grade indicates the minimum flash point in degrees centigrade.
Application areas for aliphatic mineral spirits are in low odour paints, wood treatment products, printing inks, adhesives, metal cleaning and degreasing, dry cleaning, aerosol formulations, household speciality products, lamp oil, lighter fluids, hand cleaning compounds, metal rolling oils and drilling solvents.

Special boiling point solvents
Special boiling point (SBP) solvents are versatile fast to medium evaporating aliphatic hydrocarbon fluids with very low impurities and aromatics content and narrow boiling ranges.
Pentanes – aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents
Pentane is a high purity aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent primarily used as propellants in aerosols, as blowing agents in foams and as reaction media in polymerisation processes.
