Flaring: Zero routine flaring by 2025鹿
Shell aims to eliminate routine gas flaring from its Upstream-operated assets by 2025, moving faster than the World Bank鈥檚 Zero Routine Flaring by 2030 initiative, to which we are a signatory[1].
Shell also has targets to:
- Halving Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 under operational control (2016 reference year) [2]
- Maintain methane emissions intensity below 0.2% and achieve near-zero methane emissions by 2030.
These targets will help Shell become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.
Shell is a signatory to the initiative and in 2021, we brought forward our target to eliminate routine flaring from our Upstream operations to 2025 from 2030.
