The Shell Graduate Programme

Embarking on the Commercial Business area of the Shell Graduate Programme, you'll join a three-year competence-based training programme where you'll experience working in two roles, each lasting 18 months. Shell鈥檚 global network of experienced professionals will offer you invaluable guidance to prepare you for long-term success in our integrated value chain. You鈥檒l discover your strengths in an environment where you鈥檒l be able to develop your leadership skills. You'll strengthen your knowledge about commerce and we will support you to develop your business acumen, and to become a game changer in helping to meet the world鈥檚 future energy needs.

Roles and responsibilities

As a graduate in the Downstream Supply Chain you'll be able to develop your commercial skills through exposure to a variety of roles within the Downstream business, which may include: 

  • Distribution Business Analyst 
  • Logistics Analyst
  • Materials Planner
  • Optimisation Analyst
  • Production Planner 
  • Supply Analyst

You can expect to take up a range of responsibilities including:

  • Planning of supply chain strategies
  • Identifying supply chain improvement opportunities鈥
  • Optimising operations, including distribution channels
  • Negotiating contracts to maximise value 
  • Monitoring business management risks

Training and development

You'll receive training in areas including supply chain, refinery economics, price risk management in the oil market and integrated supply chain management. To supplement your practical training you will be enrolled onto formal learning courses specific to your area of expertise. These might include Negotiations, Supply Chain Economics or Leadership. Throughout the Shell Graduate Programme you'll receive regular progress checks that will help us work with you to determine the direction of your career progression and development plan.
