Navigating Fleet Decarbonisation: a guide to driving a successful transition
Exploring your route to net zero
Our latest report offers global industry perspectives on fleet decarbonisation, and provides fleet owners with the resources to explore their next steps, and measure their progress. Discover the set of tools and frameworks designed to help you make informed decisions for the future of your fleet as you work towards net-zero emissions.

Accelerate to Zero Roadmap
The location, size and make up of your fleet will all play a role in shaping your decarbonisation journey 鈥 as will the strategic needs of your business. Working out your next steps as you look to reduce emissions, improve total cost of ownership (TCO) and adopt low and zero carbon solutions (all while making sure you have the right mix of vehicles to support your operations) can be a significant challenge.
That鈥檚 exactly why Shell Fleet Solutions created its Accelerate to Zero programme, which combines end-to-end mobility solutions with expert consultancy services. Wherever you are on your decarbonisation journey, the four-phase programme can help you to develop a tailored roadmap to net zero for your business while making it easier to select, implement and take full advantage of the latest digital tools and solutions.

Organisational Readiness
To drive a successful fleet transition, businesses need to make sure they are prepared to make tough choices 鈥 and that their wider organisation is ready to support ongoing change. The decisions fleet managers make can have a significant impact on other areas of their business. Because of this, organisational readiness across areas like strategy, governance, people, technology, process, assets and infrastructure is critical in overcoming obstacles and driving progress.
The Organisational Readiness Toolset in the report can help fleet operators to manage these internal pressures. Featuring an ecosystem of modern fleet decision making, the success factors behind an effective transition and a maturity index, it helps businesses to understand where they are now 鈥 as well as how to take the next steps towards greater organisational readiness.

EV Transition Toolset
EVs are seen by most fleet owners (95%) as the long-term solution to decarbonisation. However, that doesn鈥檛 mean implementing them across your fleet will be simple. Businesses need to understand how much of their fleet can transition to EVs, based on their specific performance needs. Charging infrastructure must also be considered, and how this could impact your fleet鈥檚 operations.
To support your fleet with some of the complexities around the EV transition (as well as rapidly changing markets), the report provides a Electric Vehicle Transition Toolset. Explore the no-regret actions you can take, a full breakdown of the transition costs you need to consider and how duty cycle assessments can help you to predict your fleet鈥檚 EV performance needs.

Giorgio Delpiano, Senior Vice President, Shell Fleet Solutions and E-Mobility"Tackling climate change by driving emissions reduction is an urgent challenge, and as a result, today鈥檚 fleet businesses are facing increasing pressure to decarbonise 鈥 from regulators, customers and employees. We designed this report with Deloitte to better understand the key barriers our customers are facing, and to provide fleet owners with a set of tools and frameworks that aim to support decision making as they navigate both the challenges and opportunities ahead."

Matthew Guest, Partner, Deloitte"Although the fleet market is rapidly changing, and the decision-making environment remains complex 鈥 the opportunity for all fleets to decarbonise exists today, no matter what stage you are in your journey. This is why we partnered with Shell to develop a practical guide of essential tools and frameworks in the Navigating Fleet Decarbonisation report, to function as a foundation 鈥 helping fleet owners understand the preliminary steps needed to support the successful delivery of a decarbonisation strategy. That is also why we are working to electrify our own vehicle fleet as part of our WorldClimate programme."
